Receiving Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening is a great option to enhance your smile! A brighter smile gives you more confidence in your daily life. Many patients opt to get teeth whitening for several reasons including, discolored teeth, worn-down enamel, or want an extra boost of confidence for a special day. Whatever the reason, a brighter smile can bring you many benefits, such as:

  • Increased self-esteem
  • A cost-effective way to enhance your appearance
  • Makes you more attractive
  • It’s a quick process
  • Healthier looking teeth that are free from stains

Teeth whitening results often vary from person to person. Due to factors such as your lifestyle and the original color of your teeth, it will affect how bright your teeth become. Typically, teeth whitening will lighten your teeth by three to eight shades. Teeth with yellow undertones often appear lighter once whitened than those with grey undertones.

At Flagstaff Smiles, teeth whitening is broken down into two appointments. The first appointment is the consultation. If you are eligible for teeth whitening, we will take molds of your teeth to create your custom trays. The second is receiving the trays. We will ensure they fit you perfectly without any discomfort. You will then wear the trays for a couple of weeks.

How to Prolong Your Results

Once you have gotten your teeth whitened, great your smile is now dazzling. You want to maintain the results for as long as possible. The following are tips to follow to help keep your teeth bright:

  • Avoid dark-colored foods and beverages! Any foods that have previously stained your teeth, leading you to get your teeth whitened, should be avoided or consumed minimally. Coffee, tea, wine, or sauces such as balsamic vinegar can stain your teeth and quickly lead to a duller smile.
  • When you consume any beverages or foods that can cause stains, be sure to rinse your mouth. Drinking water after you eat removes food particles from your teeth minimizing stains and plaque buildup.
  • Avoid smoking. Not only does smoking have negative effects on your overall health, but it also wears down the enamel on your teeth.
  • Use a straw when drinking beverages. A straw minimizes the contact between the drink and your teeth, reducing the effect of staining.
  • Maintain good oral hygiene. It’s always essential to brush properly, floss daily, and scheduling bi-annual teeth cleanings with your dentist in Flagstaff. By practicing good oral hygiene, you can prevent plaque buildup, which prevents staining. You can also use a whitening toothpaste once or twice a week to give your teeth an extra whitening boost.
  • If your results are starting to fade, consider touch-up teeth whitening in Flagstaff.
